Digital is the cheapest way into PortableMind because you supply the drive and the setup time. It only works if you have ALL of this:
A Windows PC
Setup runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). macOS support is coming later — if you're on a Mac, hold off for now.
A 64 GB or larger USB 3.0 drive or external SSD — it will be COMPLETELY ERASED
Everything on the drive is wiped during setup. Use a new drive or one with nothing you want to keep. Drives under 64 GB are rejected before anything is touched. One compatibility note: drives that use 4096-byte sectors (a few high-capacity external SSDs) aren't supported yet, the Updater checks and tells you before touching the drive. Standard USB 3.0 flash drives are fine.
About 40 GB free on your computer's C: drive
Setup stages the download on your PC before writing it to your drive. The space is freed automatically when setup finishes.

The download is roughly 35–40 GB. On a typical home connection setup takes around 25–60 minutes end to end.

Use a USB 3.0 drive from a known brand. PortableMind runs as fast as the drive you give it — the Updater measures your drive's speed before writing and warns you if it's going to feel slow.

What exactly do I get?
The same full-tier PortableMind software our $99 physical unit ships with — voice, multi-modal chat, the complete model roster — written onto YOUR drive. You get a setup key, the Updater download, and setup instructions the moment you pay. Nothing ships in the mail.
What is the setup key?
Your activation code: ADOPT- followed by 8 digits, shown on your confirmation page and emailed to you. You type it into the Updater — it's your proof of purchase and it activates your drive. Keep it with your order records.
How many drives can I set up with one key?
One. Your setup key binds to the first drive it sets up — one purchase, one PortableMind. Re-flashing the SAME drive (recovery, future updates) is free and unlimited. If your drive dies or you replace it, contact support and we'll move your license over — we're generous about genuine hardware failures.
Can I update it later like a regular PortableMind?
Yes. A Digital drive is a first-class PortableMind: future updates work exactly like they do for physical units, through the same Updater, and your conversations are preserved automatically.
What kind of drive should I buy?
A 64 GB or larger USB 3.0 drive or external SSD from a known brand (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston, Crucial...). PortableMind runs as fast as the drive you give it. The Updater speed-tests your drive first: below ~20 MB/s it warns you, and genuinely slow drives are blocked before anything is erased. Drives larger than 128 GB work great — PortableMind uses up to 128 GB of the drive.
Why does the Updater say my drive is too slow?
Cheap or counterfeit USB drives (the $6 gas-station kind) often write at under 10 MB/s — setup would take hours and PortableMind would feel broken. The Updater measures the real speed and shows you the number. Swap in a USB 3.0 drive from a known brand and run it again.
What's the refund policy?
Full refund any time before your setup key is used to set up a drive. After a drive has been set up, refunds are at our discretion — email us and we'll be reasonable. Buying on a Mac by mistake is a full refund, always.
Does it work on Mac?
Not yet. Setup requires a Windows PC today, and the PortableMind it creates runs on Windows. macOS support is coming and we'll announce it. If you're on a Mac, wait for that instead of buying now.
Is my drive's data safe?
No — that's the one loud warning. Setup COMPLETELY ERASES the drive you point it at. The Updater makes you confirm before it touches anything, and it names the exact drive it's about to erase. Use a drive with nothing on it that you want to keep.
