Your data.Your hardware.Nothing leaves.
PortableMind is built so we can't see what you do with it. Models run locally, telemetry is off, and there's no account to compromise. Here's exactly what that means in practice, what we guarantee, and how you can verify it.
AES 256 on the drive
The PortableMind partition is AES 256 encrypted at rest. If you lose the drive, the data is unreadable without the firmware.
No telemetry, ever
The desktop app doesn't phone home. It doesn't track usage, it doesn't fingerprint your hardware, it doesn't ship error reports anywhere we can read them.
No account, no login
There is nothing to sign up for. No user database exists. No password to reset because there's no password.
Inference is local
Every model on every tier runs on your CPU/GPU. No outbound API call is made to answer a prompt. Disconnect WiFi mid-conversation and AI keeps working.
Optional updates
Firmware updates are pulled only when you trigger them. Your existing build keeps running offline indefinitely. No forced updates, no auto-installs.
Physical custody
Unplug the USB and the AI stops. Nothing is installed on the host. Lock the drive away when you're done. Custody is yours.
Don't trust us. Verify.
The whole point of offline AI is that you don't have to take anyone's word for it. Here are concrete checks you can run on your own hardware.
Found something? Tell us first.
If you find a security issue with the firmware, the desktop app, or portablemind.io itself, email team@portablemind.io with details before posting publicly. We'll respond within one business day.
We treat security reports as priority work. You'll get credit (if you want it), a status update within 24 hours, and a fix or mitigation in the next firmware pack.
