PORTABLEMIND

Privacy by staying offline

PortableMind keeps your prompts, context, and outputs on the device in front of you. No cloud calls, no accounts, and a predictable update path you control.

Local-only architecture

Models, runtime, and UI are bundled on the drive. Inference runs on your CPU and never depends on an external API or account token.

  • Localhost UI; no hosted dashboards or remote logging.
  • Offline by default; outbound network calls are not required to use the product.
  • Accounts and signups are not part of the runtime.

Data handling

Prompts, responses, and history are written locally. You decide what to retain, back up, or delete.

Local logs

Logs stay on-device. Clear them after sensitive sessions or keep them for audit.

Backups

If you back up, use encrypted storage you control. Keep the USB itself on you.

Device isolation

Run in a user session you trust; keep the machine offline if you’re handling sensitive data.

Update integrity

When you opt to update, the new build is downloaded, hashed, and compared to trusted values before activation. You can revert to the previous build if anything looks wrong.

Antivirus and allow-listing

Some security suites slow first launch. Pre-allow the launcher so you stay focused during a blackout or while traveling without internet.

  • Review the antivirus exclusions guide and add rules before you’re offline.
  • Keep the drive physically secure; treat it like a hardware token with your offline AI stack.

Network posture

The USB runs without the network, but you may temporarily allow connectivity for updates. If you want a stricter stance, block outbound calls at the OS level after updating.

Offline default

No internet is required. You can pull the network cable and keep working.

Controlled updates

Use a trusted network for updates, then disable access and rely on the validated bundle.

Policies and teams

If you’re rolling this out to a team, document where the drive can be used, how to store it, and when to update.

  • Define when offline AI is required versus optional cloud tools.
  • Set a cadence for updates and checksums so every drive stays aligned.
  • Share the privacy checklist guide with your team.

Stay offline, stay ready

Treat the USB like essential gear. Keep it updated on your terms, store it securely, and you’ll have a private AI terminal wherever you land.
