Not from your drawer, not from our support inbox, just from the shelf. What is happening, in one paragraph
As of today the store sells three things: the $69 PortableMind Digital (you supply the drive), the $99 physical v1.8.0 USB, and the $139 MAX-SPEED build, with the $199 PRO Navigator on top for offline GPS. CORE is not one of them. No existing unit is affected in any way. If you own a CORE, it keeps working, keeps updating, and keeps being supported, for as long as we exist.
If you own a CORE: nothing changes
This is the part that matters most, so it goes first and gets said plainly. Every CORE unit ever sold is supported for life. The official Updater recognizes it, maintenance fixes that apply to the chat tier keep landing on it, the 30-day warranty terms you bought under still stand, and the same human answers the same support email. Retirement means we stopped selling it. It does not mean we stopped standing behind it.
CORE stays what it always was: the Windows chat tier. It does not grow voice or SCOUT Vision with an update, those belong to the full build. What it keeps getting is the boring, important stuff: compatibility fixes, stability work, and a working recovery path through the Updater, free, forever.

Why retire it at all
Honest answer: Digital made CORE the second-best cheap door, and we refuse to sell the second-best version of anything. CORE's whole job was to make the first step small. It did that by trimming the feature set to fit a $49 physical product: chat only, no voice, no vision, Windows only. That was a fair trade in April. It stopped being fair the day we could deliver the FULL build for $69 with no hardware in the box at all.
The $69 Digital flashes a 64 GB+ USB 3.0 drive you already own with the complete v1.8.0 build, the same voice mode, the same SCOUT Vision with seven field modes, the same multi-modal chat and Model Manager the $99 physical unit ships with.
